At Namaste’ Institute, our dedication to
progressive educational excellence and innovative
contemplative curriculum inspires outstanding professionalism
and individual expression in our students, faculty and staff. In addition to professionalism and individual expression, students also are
supported in developing higher levels of self-awareness, compassion and integrity.
At the Namaste’ School of Massage we are now offering new On Campus programs which include Independent/Online Study. The curriculum offered provides students
with a supportive and progressive educational experience with more flexibility to expand horizons, deepen knowledge about the body and self,
and help each student develop outstanding proficiency in bodywork techniques.
The Namaste School of Massage 600 hour program is now being offered in three new formats, an
8 month weekday program which meets two days per week, a 12 month weekday program which meets 1 day per
week, and a 22 month weekend format program which meets approximately 1 weekend per month.
In order to continue embodying integrity and educational excellence in the Namasté curriculum, all of the original hands-on course hours, less lecture hours, are still held “on-campus” with faculty through an
interdisciplinary learning approach. The hands-on courses include Massage Theory and Technique 150 Hours, Clinical Massage 50 Hours, Massage Clinic 25 Hours, Functional Anatomy 25 Hours, Kinesiology 50 Hours and Neuroanatomy 12 Hours, Feldenkrais 3 Hours, Trager 3 Hours, Reflexology 3 Hours, Craniosacral 3 Hours, Hydrotherapy 3 Hours, in additional to the Herbalism 2 Hours, Homeopathy 2 Hours, Subtle Anatomy 20 Hours, and Nutrition 10 Hours classes.
The independent study courses or portions of courses are aspects of courses which have traditionally included lecture and or that have required videos, reading and journaling, such as Physiology 50 Hours, and Pathology 38 Hours. With this format students will now have more in-class time for palpation and discussion of material and experiences without hours of lecture in one sitting. For example, a 25 hour Anatomy class would traditionally include lecture, video and hands-on palpation within 25 hours of in class study, now students have a full 25 hours of hands-on palpation alone in class, along with earning an additional 25 hours by independent study. In addition, students will also have the one-on-one individual faculty mentoring support outside of class needed for these courses, which has not been possible in the traditional format. The benefits are numerous! All independent study will be assessed through a straightforward and organized student portfolio which will include forum participation notes, lecture notes, journaling, projects, and exams. By course end students will need to demonstrate critical thinking skills and proficiency in academics and hands-on techniques in order to fulfill the high standards set forth by Namaste’.
Within the 600 hour program the “on-campus” hours meet for 1 or 2 days per week or one weekend per month 8:30-3:00 within a set schedule, and the additional “off-campus” hours meet on the Namaste’ Institute Forum (Independent study) in a structured and well organized format with supervising faculty, which the student can access at their convenience and learning pace. Within any option students can either choose to finish their “off-campus” classes within the structured and organized format of homework assignments which include due dates and learning objectives or they can go past the anticipated graduation date in order to absorb the learning at their own pace.
Within the 600 hour program the “on-campus” hours meet and exceed the hourly standard for “on-campus” courses set forth by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Completion of any program qualifies the graduate to sit for the National Certification Examination, and not only fulfills but exceeds the educational requirements for NCBTMB membership and Massage Therapy licensure in the state of Maine. At Namaste’, it is extremely important to us that students graduate as professionals and succeed in their endeavors. We clearly understand that our graduates are our reputation and that is why we are evolving our programs – in order to not only continue but to go beyond our expectations of student success.
This is a new and exciting time for us at Namaste’! We are delighted to be expanding our programs to provide students with more flexibility, freedom and opportunity. The new paradigm of education is moving into a dimension that beckons educational institutions to evolve and transform from the traditional format of the classroom. As this new paradigm unfolds, Namaste’ is here ready to evolve with it.
At Namaste’ we are confident that our community will grow even stronger with this transformation, and students will receive benefits that, again, go beyond our previous programs. The new formats allow students to learn, absorb and retain the information at their own pace, especially the vast information taught within the rigorous science courses. Most importantly, the new format also allows more students to fulfill their dreams of taking a journey they might otherwise not have been able too because of a busy life with work and family. Lastly, the freedom this format offers will allow students and faculty to have more time to explore the contemplative values embodied at Namaste’. We would be honored if you joined us in our evolution! Namaste’ ~
