Mandala Retreat - A Center for Renewal & Refuge

Hidden Wholeness

Namaste’ Institute began as a tiny seed ~ hidden within was a great vision of wholeness yearning to break free into the visible world of form ~ just as a tiny acorn is bursting with its unlimited potential of a great oak. The fragile seed has been sown with great care, attention, and love by its community. It began its germination with professional training programs and community classes rooted in the nourishing soil of holism. Over the past few years it has burrowed its roots deep into the earth and broadened its seedling limbs tall into the sky reaching for its potential to grow and expand its branches, so it can hold an even greater sacred space for the community whom has nourished its growth and the community to come. It is now time for this seedling to grow into the great vision that founded it.

The Vision

A vision of a Contemplative Community retreat center. A center where adults and youth alike can find refuge and solitude ~ support and guidance ~ renewal and courage. A center where one can find mentors and elders to support them in times of difficulty or the blessing of personal transformation. A center where one can be listened too ~ quite possibly for the first time ~ to be held in the presence of caring, wise and mature individuals ~ where one can know that someone is always available ~ someone who is there to not fix or rescue you, but to hold a sacred space for you to find your own truth ~ within. A center where one can find a place of solitude in the woods or a field ~ where one can listen to the sacredness of life around them ~ and within them ~ knowing that they are being held in a sacred space whether alone ~ or in community.

Inspiration

A center where one is inspired to live a more authentic life. A center where one can explore who they really are. A center where one can dance, breathe, be and sense their inner heartbeat ~ their inner life ~ their inner rhythm.

Home

A center where community can come together in a common house for meditation and prayer, welcoming people of all faiths to support a contemplative life. A center where secluded hermitages for solitary retreat are tucked away in the woods and corners of the fields. A place where a wellness center for renewal beckons one to calm their mind and nurture their body and spirit.

Social Change

A community that understands that social change begins within and is the foundation to heal the critical issues of the world. As Ghandi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” A center where community can come together in dialogue to create and nurture that which cannot be accomplished alone. A community that is informed by the world’s traditions and wisdoms ~ where each individual can be supported in cultivating compassion, awareness and clear insight. A center where transformation of self and society happens and is not just spoke about as a possibility. A center based on the principles of wholeness where one can be supported in integrating the inner life of mind and spirit with the outer life of action and service in the world.

Join the Mandala Vision

We are now in the process of organizing a non-profit organization called The Mandala Foundation ~ Mandala Retreat. If you are interested in supporting our vision in any way we would be honored. We will be updating this page over the next year with news, ideas, and plans for Mandala, so please check back or send along your ideas of what you envision a place such as Mandala to be. This is an exciting time for the Namaste’ community, and we look forward to building community together with you.

Why Mandala?

We chose Mandala because of its meaning. A Mandala is a design often utilizing the circle—symbol of the cosmos—and the square—symbol of the man-made world. A Mandala is used to uncover the deeper meanings of our hearts, and assists in observing our motivations in life in connection with the grander scale of the universe. Mandala's represent the deeper undercurrents of thought, nature, and life, reflecting that all things are connected, and united. Focusing on a Mandala as a tool of contemplative practice allows our mind to cease its constant chatter, and our thoughts begin to delve deeper in the mist of thought that dwells closer to the realm of Spirit. The Mandala gives the chattering mind a point of focus, something to digest, while the Spirit connection is made, and clarity of the heart and soul is reached. A Mandala is one of the greatest symbols of community and our interrelationship with all things. Namasté ~
