COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: PERSONAL GROWTH & HEALING
BODYMIND & HONORING THE SELF THROUGH SUBTLE ANATOMY & EASTERN HEALING THERAPIES
From a BodyMind perspective, life experiences are embodied experiences. Breathing habits, movement patterns, musculature tone, posture, body language, tone of voice and presentation of our words, physical and psychological impact of chronic pain diseases are all shaped by past and present experiences and require re-education involving somatic awareness and sensing of the whole person.
Within this participatory and experiential, self-actualizing introductory course, students will be exploring their own attitudes and movement patterns of their BodyMind.
This course explores in depth the body/mind/spirit connection and integrates somatic-oriented material with contemporary developmental theories and practices. Students will learn how to work from their center through experiencing and understanding the integration of sensation, emotion, thought, and movement.
Because of the experiential aspects of this course, it is required that students be emotionally mature and grounded in order to manage the strong feelings and emotions which may arise during movement practices.
This experiential course will explore the Eastern Healing Therapies of Ayurveda, Thai-Yoga Therapy, Reiki, Shiatsu, and Meditation. Students will explore deeply into the Subtle Anatomy of the Chakra Energy System of India and the Chinese Medicine System of Meridians and how both of these systems relate to our physical and psychological well-being.
