At Namasté Institute we are dedicated to the ongoing and enriching study of the meaning of education. The word education, derived from the Latin word ‘educare’, means, or its purpose is, to ‘draw out wisdom.’ In order to create a learning environment grounded in rich knowledge of how one learns, that also encourages respectful, open inquiry and deep learning, one must be engaged in the study of the purpose of education and in applying its deeper meaning.
When educating from a perspective that values the original purpose of education there is a deeper understanding of the process of learning and the rich, diverse interconnection of those we share that process with. It is what we like to call at Namasté - a deep humanizing of educating and learning.
At Namasté we are passionately curious. We seek a deeper understanding of ourselves, others and life by combining time-honored contemplative practices with contemporary science, and rigorous academic study with the practice of deep listening, introspection and exploration of what we know and do not know - together. Within this process of deepening our understandings we are supported in integrating the inner life of mind and spirit with the outer life of action and service in the world, which leads to an inspiring, empowering and transformative educational experience for the whole person.
